Koutouloufari is a hillside village above Hersonissos, one of three old settlements sitting on the slope behind the resort. Koutouloufari kept its stone houses and narrow lanes when the coast below was developed, and it now holds a concentration of small hotels and tavernas in restored buildings.
The village looks down over the coastal plain and the sea beyond it. The view is the main reason people choose it, along with the quiet: the nightlife of the strip is a few minutes downhill but out of earshot.
Piskopiano and Old Hersonissos sit alongside it on the same slope, and the three run together as a single hillside area.
