Lentas is a small village on the south coast of the Heraklion region, at the foot of the Asterousia mountains. Lentas is reached by a long descent from the inland plateau, and the road to it is the reason the village stayed small: it is slow, and there is nothing beyond it.
The settlement is a scatter of rooms and tavernas behind a shingle beach, with the remains of an Asklepieion, an ancient healing sanctuary, on the slope above.
The coast either side is largely undeveloped, and several of the beaches near the village are reached on foot or by boat rather than by road.
