Winter is the other reason this route runs steadily. Ierapetra has the mildest winters on Crete and an agricultural economy that does not stop in November, so the Piraeus boat brings people here out of season as well as in it.
The KTEL coach reaches Ierapetra in about two and a half hours with a change at Agios Nikolaos, and it starts from Heraklion's bus station.
