Agia Marina is a beach resort on the coast west of Chania, running along one continuous sand strip that also carries Stalos to its east and Platanias to its west. Agia Marina faces the islet of Agioi Theodoroi, a protected reserve for the Cretan wild goat that sits about a kilometre offshore and is visible from most of the beach.
The resort is built along the old coast road rather than around a village centre, so hotels, apartments and tavernas run in a line rather than a cluster. Almost everything is within walking distance of the sand.
