Kissamos, also written Kastelli Kissamou, is the main town of the far west of Crete, set at the head of the Gulf of Kissamos between the Rodopos and Gramvousa peninsulas. Kissamos is a working town rather than a resort, with a long seafront, a working port and an archaeological museum holding the Roman mosaics found in the area.
The town has two beaches of its own, Mavros Molos to the west and Telonio to the east, and a centre that runs a few streets back from the water.
